Busan is one of three cities in the running for the Korean Baseball Hall of Fame

BUSAN, South Korea - The city of Busan is in the running to become the home of the Korean Baseball Organization Hall of Fame.

KBO commissioner Koo Bon-neung recently publicly expressed that he will build a Hall of Fame to commemorate Korean baseball’s greatest stars. The long overdue project was supposed to be in place by the KBO's 30th anniversary, however finding a suitable home has proved difficult.

Busan filed a proposal on September 29, proposing a three-story building near Sajik Baseball Stadium, and Lotte will take care of the operation costs for a certain period.

The other applicants, Incheon and Seoul have submitted different proposals. Incheon promised a four story building outside Munhak Stadium which would be fully funded, while Seoul proposed the HOF to be built underneath Jamsil Baseball Stadium, though they could not handle the remodeling and upkeep expenses.

A decision is expected by the end of this year. The Korean Baseball Hall of Fame is located next to the Kang Chang Hak Stadium in Seogwipo, Jeju.
