Korean entertainer Kang Ho-dong will apparently have charges against him dropped.

SEOUL, South Korea - Arguably Korea's biggest television entertainer will have tax evation charges against him dropped. Kang Ho-dong, 41, is a former Korean Sirreum wrestler who became one of Korea's most popular men on TV.

According to the Korea Times, The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said Sunday that it has decided not to open an investigation into the alleged tax evasion, and he will not be charged unless the National Tax Service (NTS) files a complaint against him.

This past summer, the entertainer was levied a 700 million won back-tax bill, saying he did not pay due taxes by employing such methods as inflating staff wages and other expenses from 2007 to 2009. He was ordered to pay the amount over the next three years.

The Times also mention that the NTS decided not to refer the case to the prosecution, saying the tax evasion was not a deliberate act. It was a simple mistake by Kang’s tax accountants, it said.

Kang retired from the tv industry temporarily until the matter was settled.
