Ticketing Starts for the 16th Busan International Film Festival

The tickets for the Busan International Film Festival are set to go on sale next week.

BUSAN, South Korea - Tickets for this year’s Opening and Closing screening Always and Chronicles of My Mother will start at 5pm on September 26th. Ticketing for General Screenings starts on the 28th and heralds the beginning of the 16th Busan International Film Festival.

Last year’s Opening film, Under the Hawthorn Three (Director Zhang Yimou/2010), was sold-out in less than 18 minutes and showed the intensity of the ticketing competition. This yearm the Busan International Film Festival, which has had the leading role in developing a ticketing system that suits an international film festival for the past four years, opens the intensified and diversified ticketing system that supports ticketing available on the Internet and mobile web.

To stabilize the ticketing system, the 16th Busan International Film Festival launched an exclusive ticketing web page with Daum (http://biff.movie.daum.net/ticket/home). This web page opens September 23rd (registration required). Tickets for this year’s opening and closing screenings will be available only on the Internet. In addition, tickets for general screenings will be available both on the Internet and the mobile web (http://m.daum.net), except for the first day where ticketing is only available on the Internet.

This year’s Opening /Closing Ceremony will move from the Yachting Center’s Outdoor Theatre to the BIFF Theatre (Outdoor) of the Busan Cinema Center. Despite the reduced number of seats, the BIFF Theater (Outdoor) of the Busan Cinema Center will provide better audience services in order to satisfy the festival attendees with upgraded conveniences and better enjoyment. As a part of its efforts to expand the availability of seats for the festival attendees, the opening screening will also be screened at Cine Mountain’s Cinema 1(400 seats) simultaneously with the BIFF Theatre (Outdoor). The opening screenings at both theaters will present the stage greetings of the director and actor/actress from Always, and also the live broadcast of the opening ceremony. The ticket price of the opening film at Cine Mountain’s Cinema 1 is 6, 000 KRW, same as general screening tickets (Tickets for the Opening / Closing Ceremony at the BIFF Theater (Outdoor): 20,000 KRW).

Ticketing will be available at Daum, all branches and counters of Busan Bank and ATMs.

Detailed information regarding ticketing is available on the official website of Busan International Film Festival (www.biff.kr).
