Year of the Dragon 2012: Mayor Hur, “Economy & Welfare - the core of the City Government".

BUSAN - At his annual New Year speech at the City Hall, Mayor Hur Nam-sik mentioned three major goals for the year of the Dragon, 2012. First, lowering unemployment rates. "More jobs is the best welfare", he said.

He promised that he would do his best to generate as many jobs as possible and he placed this as his top priority. Second, improving citizens' quality of life through extending residential welfare policies. He stated that residential welfare was now a critical issue for the municipal government. And third, his hope that all citizens would be helped by 'software policies' that would attach creative ideas to infrastructure assets of the city.

Mayor Hur wished everyone a brighter future together in the Year of the Dragon.
