Year-end SBS and KBS TV Show Winners Announced

December 31st is the big day for the best in Korean TV to present their awards.

SEOUL, South Korea - Actor Han Suk-gyu was the big winner at the SBS 2011 Drama Awards Saturday night, as he took home the Daesang, Korea's version of a TV Emmy. He won the award as best actor for this portrayal of King Sejong in the historical series, ‘Tree With Deep Roots.' Castmate Jang Hyuk also won a Best Acting Award in Special Planning, and the show was also the winner of Best Picture, along with five other awards.
“After working year after year, you begin to learn how precious your colleagues are. I think I received this big award on behalf of all my colleagues who participated in ‘Tree with Deep Roots’. I thank you,“ Han said in his acceptance speech.

The Daesung for KBS went to Shin Ha-kyun for his role as Lee Kang-hoon in the medical drama 'Brain.' The 37-year-old veteran actor first came to prominence in the movie Joint Security Area, where he portrayed a North Korean soldier.
Park Shi-hoo and Moon Chae-won also won the ‘Top Excellence Actor & Actress’ awards.
