When Poko Lambro hits the stage, you might turn to a friend in the crowd and comment on how unassuming they look. But when Anthony Garcia begins bending the blues chords and partner Violet Lea starts strumming and tapping away at the neck of her guitar, you quickly realize that all bets are off and anything should be expected from this pair of Texans.
Since coming to Busan, the musically dynamic duo have quickly made a name for themselves as the band to see. While their influences vary from Dylan to Davis, what most strikes you when they perform is the feeling that they are just passing through and thought they would stay for the night and treat you to some tunes before moving on. Hopefully for Busan they won’t be moving on any time soon.
Their play list varies between originals and covers but defining their style in a single word would do their unique and soulful sound injustice. If you threw a gun to my temple and forced me to narrow it down to one word, I would plead for your mercy to give me two:: “Down Home.” The taste of Texas runs deep in the originals on their CD Year of the Renegade Children, which was released in the U.S. last year. Violet’s voice floats all up and around the range as Anthony picks at the guitar or lays down some groovy old Doors style organ. Check em’ out here in Busan while you can.
