BUSAN, South Korea - You better carb up on Saturday the 27th because you're gonna burn loads of calories on the dance floor at Club Elune. Busan's first and only "mega club," nestled in at the Paradise Hotel in Haeundae, has snatched up internationally renowned New York DJ's 'Designer Drugs' for what should be an electrifying performance from this world famous duo.
Busan is but one stop on a global tour of major cities like Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and varied spots across the States. The fact that Designer Drugs chose Elune, shows that the emerging music scene in Busan is a place where some of the bigger names are starting to showcase their talent. With Designer Drugs that is a booming blend of house, club, and electro spun from the DJ booth.
The East Village in Manhattan is Designer Drugs' stomping grounds, but they have DJ'd hundreds of shows around the world. They've produced a staggering 23 albums, remixing hip hop, indie, and pop. One DD song alone incorporates the rhymes of rap sensations NASA and the Pharcyde's Fatlip, along with the alt rock vocals of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O.
The Designer Drugs duo remix their cuts on the label Iheartcomix along with several of the top names in the DJ world. This year, to keep from going crazy, they are putting the focus on original material while continuing to tour the galaxy and party harder than ever.
Most recently they released their single "Zombies / Back Up in This” --which was released in 2009. When not on the road, one member attends med school and the other professionally drinks whiskey. There's plenty of whiskey to go around at Elune this Satruday night, and yes, it is high in carbs.
