Night Photo Zone at Gwangalli Beach

BUSAN, South Korea - Suyeong-gu District has installed a night photo zone at Gwangalli Beach so that visitors can more easily take a picture of the colorful night view with Gwangan Bridge (or Diamond Bridge) in the background.

The photo zone is located by ‘Road to Island’, one of the artworks of the Gwangalli New Media Outdoor Art Museum.

Artificial lighting for night photography has been installed on both sides of the photo spot which is marked with copperplate on the themed street at Gwangalli Beach. Promotional wide color photos of Eobang Festival, Busan International Fireworks Festival and cultural assets in Suyeong-gu are also attached on the street floor.  

Visitors can now easily take their photo with Gwangan Bridge, the artworks of the Gwangalli New Media Outdoor Art Museum, and Gwangalli Beach in the background, at the photo zone at night.

Busan Toboggan Slope Open

BUSAN, South Korea - Busan Nakdong River Project Executive Office has opened a toboggan slope at the public outdoor swimming pool that was opened at Hwamyeong Waterfront Park, Buk-gu last August. The slope will be open to sledders from January 6 through February 19, 2012.

The slope is 70 meters long, 18 meters wide and 7 meters high, and is equipped with a snowplough as well as a variety of play equipment such as a bouncy castle and a trampoline, as well as a snack bar.

Opening hours are from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. and the price is 4,000 won for adults, 3,000 won for youths and 2,000 won for children. 

To get to the toboggan slope by metro, get off at Sujeong Station (Line 2) and then walk about 10 minutes toward the Nakdong riverside. By bus, take bus nos. 115, 59,111,121, or 126. Free parking is available as well for those going there by car.

Former Miss Korea Sex Scandal Continues

SEOUL, South Korea - The saga of the latest celebrity sex scandal has taken a new twist. Han Sung-joo, a former Miss Korea in 1994, is being sued by her ex-Taiwanese-American boyfriend Christopher Hsu. Hsu filed a suit against Han in a Korean court on Wednesday through a Korean lawyer and is seeking W500 million in compensation.

Hsu accusses Han of Hsu using three of his credit cards and running up a 340 million won bill, including buying an 80 million won Hermes watch and a 20 million won handbag amongst other luxurious items.

Ex-SG Wannabe Singer Commits Suicide

Former SG Wannabe leader Chae Dong-ha became the latest celebrity suicide in Korea yesterday, an alarming trend that has now claimed two celebrities in the past four days.  Chae was 30 years old.

Chae joined SG Wannabe in 2004, and they became one of the more popular K pop groups of the 2000s, after his debut as a solo singer in 2002. However, his sudden departure in 2008 led to specuation that he was kicked out of the group, though official reason said he went to pursue a solo career.
