Jung-dong and Jwa-Dong Bike Services Now Charging Fees

BUSAN, South Korea - The city of Busan will has decided to convert the free public bike services at Jung-dong and Jwa-dong stations into pay services this year. The city plans to charge 20 thousand won a year for membership fees and 500 won every thirty minutes after the first hour. 

There have been 600 bike racks added at 15 locations throughout the city, and has made 300 bikes available to the public since the inception of the program in 2010.

There are currently 9,400 regular members and 600 daily members using the bikes on weekdays and another 900 enjoying the service on weekends. 

The city has currently invested 600 million won in the project to get more citizens to use bicycles, and paths across the city.
