Review: Traditional Taste at Kebabistan

BUSAN, South Korea -- About six years ago, Kebabistan, a little Turkish restaurant, under Turkish ownership, opened up in PNU.  It seated maybe eight people uncomfortably, but the food was so good that nobody cared—people all across the city made their way from all across town because their taste buds demanded it. Over time, the restaurant expanded to the point where franchises opened up in Ulsan and on Koje Island —things were looking great for this little slice of Turkey in Busan.

BUSAN, South Korea -- Friday nights weren’t always like this at Soultrane--back when the once infamous venue was located across the street--back when people lined up down the block for a night of dancing, drink and the occasional brawl.  

Things have changed around PNU since then, it’s quieter now, and in what used to be the Basement's old spot, the venerable Soultrane now sits. Still run by the Godfather of foreign bars, Kim-Dong Ha.

BUSAN, South Korean -- Growing up in Canada, if you decided to wear Doc Martens, you had to read the fine print.  For one thing, they were expensive, (and even worse, the choice footwear of the Heritage Front—our domestic version of England’s National Front) and you couldn’t possibly take any little bastard who wore them very seriously—ostensibly they were purchased by the kids’ mothers, which screams rebellion, right?
